This particular grade (SP70) of the American Palladium Eagle is 1 of 14 ever created!

American Palladium Eagles have only been available since 2017, with the US Mints issuing one version of the coin each year to date. The release follows a pattern of BU or Burnished, Proof, and then Reverse Proof. For example, 2017’s debut offered a BU version of the coin, followed by Proof in 2018 and Reverse Proof in 2019. The first Burnished Palladium Eagle was issued in 2020, followed by Proof again in 2021 and a Reverse Proof again last year in 2022.

On the obverse of the American Palladium Eagles, you will find Adolph A. Weinman’s iconic Winged Liberty bust; more commonly known as the Mercury Head.  This bust of Liberty includes a winged Phrygian cap on Her head that many Americans in 1916 believed gave Liberty the appearance of the Roman messenger god, Mercury (Hermes).

The reverse side of the American Palladium Eagle comes with another design of Weinman's. This design stems from the 1907 American Institute of Architects' Gold Medal release. It depicts an eagle in left-profile relief on a cliff edge with a small sapling branch in its talons.
